The 10mm head studs take 23 lb-ft, but the later 8mm studs require 
18. If you got a new case, or just had small inserts put in your old 
case, then you'll need the late figure for the late version studs.

BTW, there are special nuts and washers to be used with the late 
studs, they are 8mm ID with the same outside dimensions as the older 
10mm nuts/washers. Use the right ones!

None of this is covered in the type 3 Bentley because all the type 3s 
originally came with the 10mm studs, but it is a good upgrade to do.
I go to my late Bug Bentley when questions like this come up.
