I think the biggest difference on the Berg exhausts is that they have an
attachment point at the outside end of the muffler that goes to the
fender/body.  It is just a metal strap around the muffler.  Some of the
cheaper systems I have seen do not include this strap.  The whole weight of
the muffler is just hanging out there, bouncing around, adding significantly
to the stress at the mounting flange.  If you add the extra attachment, you
reduce the stress on the system by at least 4 times.  With the extra
attachment, the cheaper systems should be just as good.
