Really, if you're planning to remove the engine anyway, you could 
just put almost anything under the engine for now to limit its travel 
for the moment. You could also stack some stuff in the trunk, like 
the front wheels, as a counterbalance.

As for the tie rod ends, you can just remove the outboard ones and 
pull the rods out behind the steering gear. Remove the inner ends 
before installing; they are easy to install, hard to remove.
