[T3] Engine temp too cool?

I have been unable to adjust the cooling system so that the engine
temperature operates at the temp which I think it should. I have been
shooting for 160-170F and am only able to achieve 120-130F in the current
climate (during warmer weather, it runs at proprer temps). I believe I
have adjusted the thermostat and linkage properly. The only way that I can
see to prolong the flaps being closed is to put pre-tension on the
thermostat. This doesn't work too well with the spring-type stats that we
have.

Questions:
1) Is it normal for temps to be this low during the winter?

2) Is anyone familiar with this problem and have you found a remedy (if
answer to Q1 is no). I see higher temp thermostats available for FI bugs
in RMMW. Will these fit. They aren't listed for out cars but that doesn't
mean too much to me.

Thanks alot for any advice,
Bryan Eisenhower
