Ah-HA, the door check strap. Yes, they're all bad. They were bad when 
they were delivered from the factory and they fall apart with wear 
and abuse. If you take the check strap assembly out of the door (2 
screws, comes out from the inside) you will probably find the rest of 
the pieces. The 2 brass pieces are two slide pieces that slide 
against the strap. If you can't put/crimp yours back together I can 
probably come up with one here. Grease the strap when you put it back 
together.
