RE: type3-d Digest V99 #633

Hi All,

Mark Kaylor, has written about "oil light flickering". I don't know if this
will be helpful, but I recently tore apart a 71 dual oil pressure release
case , (from my Square) for use in my 65 Notch. While I too had the "oil
light flicker", mine was due to heat, age, and abuse, (by PO). I found that
even though I changed the oil on a regular basis, the PO did not. And grit,
dirt, (CURD) had worked it's way into and around the oil cooler control
plunger, (the one nearest the flywheel, the pressure control plunger is the
one near the crank pulley ). The plunger was difficult to remove, and I
believe was sticking, (while the engine was running). Thus adding to the
abuse the engine had already been subjected to.
So to make a long story short, if you don't know the history of your
engine, it might not be a bad idea the next time you change your oil to
check BOTH PLUNGERS, and make sure they MOVE FREELY IN THEIR BORES.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!!!
Be Safe!!
