Hi Karl,

I couldn't begin to judge or guess the source of your rattle. However,
anything like that you have after a motor replacement may be bad or just a
new nuisance. Whether or not you care ever able to get rid of it, find it
soon!

The oil light is one of those basics, similar to having all your lugnuts on
tight, and I mean tight. That light is what saves your new engine from
becoming old very fast, if you have any anomalies in its oilflow pattern.
Your reading a note from somebody who once did not have a working oil light
and did not know it. I was going up a hill in the middle of the night with
my sweet wife by my side in a 55 chevy wagon (lots like a squareback!) when
the engine started to rattle, then very quickly went on to groan and quit.
I was still halfway up the hill when the tow truck brought sunlight and a
very dismal ride home.

Yes, my advice is not to drive it, not even to RUN it, until the oil light
works.

Patience, Gene
