Others have contributed. --------- Ralph would have had little difficulty with automobiles, if only they traveled at a rate of speed not to exceed 30 mph, did not use flammable propellant (as in gasoline), and were not operated and inhabited by fellow humans. Reality being different, he found automobiles very troubling. As I recall, gasoline was a principal difficulty with the Corvair. Their was a guy in my office in 1964 who had a sign on the wall behind his desk: CORVAIR -- For the best in autoignition. Yes, one would read that "for the best in self immolation. They had this nasty reputation for deciding to feed gas onto the engine rather than into it at the most inopportune moments. I saw two of these examples myself, one after the fact, one in process. It would give me pause about this whole concept of corvair engines in Type IIIs.
