[T3] Hey, I Got Your Heat Exchangers Right Here

Heat Exchangers, Heat Exchangers, Heat Exchangers!! To think that six months
ago before I owned my first type 3 I didn't even know what these were. Now,
they've changed my life.

I actually bought two of the notorious Cal Import heat exchangers about
three months ago, when they first popped up on their web site. I needed
them badly, as I'm sure you all know about how rotted heat exchangers turn
any T3 into a kiln-on-wheels, not to mention the "Herzlichen Vapors,"
guaranteed to have you screaming like Charles Bukowski, tripping like
Timothy Leary, and singing like Tiny Tim, all within 15 minutes firing the
oven.

So, I get 'em for about $350 they arrive, look like heat exchangers, and
they're as heavy as Oprah's ass. But unlike her ass, they're very well made
and don't resemble curdled milk. I had them installed at Pegasus Bug shop
(these guys work miracles, very reasonable, and they're in Elizabeth
NJ...Turnpike adjacent! Tell 'em you want them to fix your front trunk
torsion bar, just for laughs).

What can I say? The heat exchangers are great. The guys at the shop had a
little trouble hooking them up, only because I didn't give them the proper
clamps, but in true VW spirit, they rigged something up and now life is
beautiful. No more sweating through my clothes, no more melted seat belt
buckles, no more double vision, strawberry fields or marmalade skies.

One warning. Those Cal Import guys are they from Lodi? West Hollywood?
Truckee? No, They're CANADIAN!

One reason I didn't relay this story when I was so happy over my heat
exchangers is that 1) I figured everyone on this list knows of all the mail
order companies like Cal Imports, WCM, Rocky Mountain, et al, and 2) I don't
think we should use the board to promote certain companies unless there's
some unbelievable news (like new beauty rings!). Anyway, I'm breaking the
rule to mention a new source for parts that I've found to have more T3 stuff
than anyone else. It's called Bill and Steve's and they're in Downey, CA.
The web site is billandsteves.com)
