Hello Type-3er's, I just come back from a weekend break to Istanbul. While I was there I saw two interesting vans. The first was 1970's bus body clearly defined I have a photo whixh I will scan when it is developed. But,... here's the interesting part, it has the engine in the front and is being used as a mobil kebab shop. Does anyone know if volkswagen sold the tooling for these to someone else -and that someone else started making them with engines in the front. This thing was all volkswagen even down to the old style wheels with the five bolts and the rounded star shape hub inners. The second, was a 1960's split windscreen bus, again being used as a mobile kebab shop. This one I think was originally 18/19 window model, but the sides had been refabricated with a fold out shelf and canopy. It had a home made high roof too. Other than that, saw a motor-cycle and side car, but the side car was a kebab shop. And flew Turkish airlines and after a bouncy landing everybody clapped and cheered ! Thanks, Andy. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web! Visit http://www.vwtype3.org/list/
