I've had several knowledgeable engine builders state that the FI disti has a bigger advance curve that hi-performance engines can take advantage of. Now, how quickly it reacts to engine movement compared to a normal 009 I'm not sure of but I was under the assumption that the 009 can react more quickly with advance than the vacuum-style. Since my current topic of self-study is turbos and not distributors I don't know all the science behind them and leave such discussions to those more studied ;) Toby Erkson air_cooled_nut@pobox.com <-- Please use this address for email '72 VW Squareback 1.6L bored and stroked to 2.0L, Berg five-speed '95 VW Jetta III GL 2.0L, P-Chipped, Jamex sport suspension Portland, Oregon, http://www.icbm.org/ >-----Original Message----- >...You can't use it >with the FI, but the FI dists have mechanical advance curves that >are as good or better than the 009, plus they have a vacuum >advance too, which aids in fuel economy. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
