This happened to me and my friend in his newly restored 64 Bug, I had built his engine, and one of the first trips, we heard a loud scrubbing noise from the engine, the engine euAë¨ ped. What happened was that the generator pulley had cracked and rubbed the alternator, in fact so hard the engine stopped. The pulley was a cheap Bug Pack chrome unit. We installed a pulley from an old engine, works perfectly.
