Hi again,

Jim, I got your info (it was great!) and tested the generator and regulator 
and they seem to be fine, but when I was doing all that I looked at the 
brushes that I replaced last weekend. They were brand spankin' new when I put 
them in, about an inch long, but after a week they've worn down about halfway 
to where the spring is resting on the metal and probably isn't pressing them 
into the commutator. What's up with that? Isn't that weird? Could I have put 
them in wrong? It seemed like the simplest thing at the time, or does it mean 
that something is wrong with the generator? Today being Sunday I can't get 
replacement brushes to check it that way, but can anyone let me know if 
there's some trick to putting in the brushes.....
