Yup, that's a rich condition all right. When you say you replaced hoses, did you get the vacuum ones, too, or just the fuel lines? You can get bad running if the hose to the pressure sensor(left side of engine compa¿ø‰— gets pulled or knocked off, can easily happen while messing with fuels lines and plugs. The spigot under the air distributor is very hard to see, that's where mine usually gets pulled off and I don't find out about it until I fire it up. My PO had messed with the adjustment on the pressure sensor, I was getting about 5 mpg and lots of black smoke with it completely screwed in. Ended up getting one off a wreck and all was well. See if the seal is still intact on the pressure sensor adjustment, center of the rear. If not, that's a possibility. Check everything else out first, it's almost impossible to adjust correctly without a mixture meter and don't go after it with a screwdriver without one, you'll just make things worse. Others have had bad pressure sensors, but its very rare, almost as rare as a bad control unit. A systematic approach works best with FI(or any electronic system). If you don't have the Bentley factory service manual, you need one before doing anything to the FI system. The D Jetronic is a very simple system once you understand how it all works. Get an ohmmeter and run continuity checks on your harness and check the temperature sensors. If one is wildly off spec, it could affect running that way. When I first got my car, it was a basket case. I ran through the whole section on FI testing that Muir has, front to back, and found a whole bunch of stuff. It took a couple of days and a couple of trips to the junk yard, but I had it running in less than a week. Don't quit testing when you've found the first problem, there may be others. You've got to have the books, though. On Sun, 16 May 1999 21:13:26 EDT, you wrote: >I just got my square out after 5 years of storage by PO. I changed hoses, >injectors, point, plugs, the works.
