Make sure your plug wires are in the correct locations. It sounds like they are in the correct order just in the wrong places. Try moving them one spot in either clockwise or anti-clockwise. That will but you give you 90 degree's to play with either way. I bought a car that was like this. I was able to properly adjust the timing once the plug wires were situated correctly.
