All VWs got new seat tracks in 1973, a system they used at least up to the A3
cars (Golf3, Jetta3). Your 70 does not have this style of tracks. You would have
to weld them in, or swap the pan. When I pulled the legs apart, I used a 5 pound
hammer, and banged like crazy until the seats fit :-) I guess one could heat
them, or cut and weld, but then you would have to take the padding and cover off
first. The banging worked for me.
