Of these, the only one that will have much effect on a single stop is the pad. The pad material can make a BIG difference. As for VW brakes, did you realize that Consumer Reports tested the 67 Beetle (in 67) and found that its brakes (4 wheel drums) were the best they had ever tested! That car held their record for shortest stop for literally years. And yet I don't think there is any question that the type 3 disk brakes are better. The vented rotors can make a difference for a series of repeated stops, and the lines will make a theoretical difference in the amount of pedal travel (but not pedal force required or braking force experienced.) This difference is small enough that I don't think anyone in a double-blind test could tell which cars had which hoses.
