I worked out the circuit about 6 years ago, but I can't find the diagram at present. It's not too difficult; there's a base resistor, transistor, coil (can't remember if it's the green or red coil) in the collector circuit, and the other coil biasing the base in the opposite direction to switch off the transistor again. I think there's another resistor somewhere, but I can't remember. It's so fiddly in there, and you can't remove the board without drilling the riveted ends of the pillars, so repairs are micro-surgery at best. If it works for a time then doesn't, I wouldn't suspect the electronics, I'd guess the bearings or gear teeth were messed-up. Dave.
