Impossible is impossible, and you're right, this isn't, but it requires
a great deal of either money or skill, special tools and, above all,
patience to fix. The heater channel is a particularly important bit of
structure, and repairing it -- which often amounts to replacing it -- is
a big job, not to be undertaken lightly. If you're just getting started
in VWs you really don't want to face this problem right off. I sure wouldn't
mess with it. There are plenty of good cars out there looking for homes.
