...[External] wheel weights?! No, Jim, No! You need to use the flat "racing" weights. These thin squares are applied to the inside of the rim (not the outside where the tire is) using an adhesive backing. They're only a couple of millimeters in height (<5mm I know) and probably a 1/2" square. Crimping unsightly and rim scaring wheel weights is no longer necessary. I specify to the boys at Les Schwab (Mike, you need this tire chain, you'd love 'em!) to use them and have had no problems, ever, with this style of weights -- they even clear the tight gap between my 914 calipers and after-market rims.
