The second backing material will probably loosen locally around the corner which should not be a problem unless you were going to wait a long time to apply the seal after applying the tape. If it is a REALLY tight corner, I would cut small triangular wedges out if the inner radius of the tape where it needs to go aroundthe corner. This way you have continuous coverage.
