[T3] Huge displacement on a FI engine?

I have an idea-

So my new Type 4 has a 1700 in it, right?  And a D- Jetronic...

So why couldn'tÌ@OÑld my fasty engine bigger (violating the old
stock FI rule) and just use the T4 D jet stuff that was different?
Couldn't I then have a enigne with bigger displacement using 90% stock
parts?  I swear, they seem identical.  

Have I found a way around my horsepower ceiling?  Have I achieved
Quasi-Lightside nirvana?
