Not Type 3 related but interesting all the same. In Volksworld Magazine, March 99 (Definately NOT the April issue!!) issue they carry a feature on a red/white combo 1967 double cab pick up owned by the owner of a VW tuning/restoration business (GWD). The thing about this bus is it's motive power is provided by an ex 2.1 litre Wasserboxer engine from a late T25 transporter, which has been converted to air-cooling, increased to 2.4 litres and has the following alterations:- 1. Limbach 82mm Crank 2. Porsche Nikasil 96mm barrels and pistons. 3. Compression set at 8.5:1 4. 228mm Type 4 lightened flywheel 5. Limbach cylinder heads, 39x34mm 6. Schleicher Camshaft. 7. Dual 40IDF Webers, K&N filters. 8. GWD Breather, GWD Porsche fan conversion, GWD Manifolds, GWD exhaust s—ØÚÒ 2mm s/s tube with 50mm s/s mufflers) This engine produces 135hp. Anyone have any reflections on what is required to convert? a previously water cooled engine into an air-cooled unit?
