Did you actually rebuild the engine and change the cam or are you talking about something else? Try removing the valve covers and watching from each side while someone else turns the engine over with the starter, or, briefly, even while it's running. Look to see if you are gettin the same lift on the 1 and 3 valves that you are getting on 2 and 4.
