What's your idle speed? Try bumping it up to about 1000 RPM, you'll get a
little bit better fan speed and cooling at idle speed during the heat of the
summer.

I wouldn't blame B&S for this. They're probably supplying you with the same
tubing you would get anywhere. You're working in a hot part of the engine,
and it's designed to have sheet metal parts (rear heat exchangers) and metal
clamps holding things together down there. The paper and foil tubing (even
the all aluminum stuff) isn't designed to handle much heat.

Stick with the SAE 30. Higher viscosity and related oil pressure does not
mean better lubrication.

Do what you can to keep your air tubes hooked up. Even with your heat
exchanger controls closed, the fan blows air through them and wastes it at
the control valve in order to keep the exchangers from getting too hot.
