I have only used 6V VDO tachs, but they have all had the same connections: 1. A connection marked "+6", which I connect to the ignition lock. 2. "1" which should be connected to the distributor side of the coil. 3. "-" which I connect to ground. The markings on the connectors are often molded in plastic and can be very difficult to see.
