You may be right Keith, but that's not what I've heard about Type 4s. Generally owners claim they are the best cars they ever owned, though I've never really got on with the looks. You have to appreciate the Type 4 came along when quality generally was falling; Type 3s of similar age rust just as well. We (the family) had a 64 1500S which had holes in its rockers after 10 years (and not particularly neglected). The 411/412 D-jetronic is identical in how it works, so there might be something to learn. I wouldn't object, but wouldn't lose sleep if the general feeling was not to involve them. Dave.
