An attempt was made to avoid the records jumping by making the
automobile turntable run at 16 2/3 rpm.  Needless to say,
relatively few of those slow records were made and record players
for cars just did not catch on.  Think about the distraction of
dialing a cel-phone, and compare that to changing a record on the
fly.
