The wear limit test for both uppers and lowers is an axial play test, but the uppers are spring preloaded with quite a heavy spring so you can't just do this by hand. Sorry, but ball joints are new territory for me. Does the > generic ball joint puller from Sears work OK to remove these? It's a unique arrangement, so I don't think any kind of generic ball joint tool is going to help.
