If the rubber seals are still in good condition, DON'T punch any holes in them. If you really want to lube them, you can use the proper puller to pop them out of their tapered homes and then run a need蛦xt to the shaft--NOT through the rubber. I have never seen a bad one that still had an intact boot. If you lube them you must not put too much grease in them. If the boots are filled anywhere close to full, then they will not have the necessary freedom to flex and they WILL burst in use. The manuals suggest that you inject just until you first feel the boot start to swell.
