If this is a 72 then your timing may be right; if not then its off. 
Perhaps the mech advance is not working right, or stuck at full 
advance. If it a FI car is running rich then check the pressure 
sensor hose and the charging system regulating voltage. How about the 
fuel pressure; did anyone mess with the regulator? Fuel pressure 
should be 28-30 psi.
