Hey everyone, I have this strange intermittant clicking (clacking?) noise which appears to be coming from the rear left wheel of my 1970 Notch. I apologise in advance for my inability to describe the noise but that's what it sounds like to me. It varies from a faint click to a loud CLaCK! which increases in frequency with speed. (It's only been doing it for about 3km - haven't driven the Notch since it sent me into a mad panic just that far from home last week! I'm sure you'll sympathise! ;-) . It's not a constant noise and only happens when in gear: R, 1, 2, perhaps 3, (can't get it in 4th around town much). I can sit the car in neutral and rev til the cows come home and it runs perfect. Rolling in neutral is fine so I'm guessing it's associated with the load from acceleration when in gear. Does anyone know what a failing shock or shagged cv might sound like? Am I right on the track here? I haven't lifted that car other than to test play in the wheel which seemed fine.
