It seems that VW call 1 Jan a week even if it's Saturday! (as in 1972), so '71 starts with week one as 1 and 2 Jan. Production date of Aug 3 must have a serial number (last 6 digits) less than about 5,000. If it's 200,000 or so, it would be the last of the previous year's model, in which case yours would be 27 July 1971. (chassis no 361-2 2xx xxx ?) BTW Word 7 (maybe others) has a calendar wizard (File; New; Other documents), so you can create the calendar for any year you put in.
