Depends on where the metal is removed:

Remove metal where the cylinders seat and the combustion chamber gets

Remove metal from the combustion chamber itself and it gets bigger,

Okay I understand that. I am wondering how putting shims under the cylinders will lower the
CR. In my just got off a 14 hour work day brain it seems that shims would just move the jugs
further away from the case but not increase the compression chamber volume.

Well the coffee just kicked in. It would be likened to shortening the stroke, huh.
I gotta get better hours!!
