I'd been wondering about that, as I simply can't get Deathrich to stop pinging once she's been out on the road for 40 or 50 minutes or so (the AZ desert goes on and on). Hmmm. I'm slapping in a new motor in April, I'll look then. -----Original Message----- From: Keith Park [mailto:TopNotchResto@worldnet.att.net] Sent: Monday, January 18, 1999 11:34 AM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: Re: [T3] Say that again? Oh yes theT3 do too!! most dont anymore as nearly all engines have had a valve job by now and the heads machined. without this the CR will be too high (MUCH too high) and they will run hot and detonate. Ive been through this with the aftermarket heads and it is why I reccomend ONLY new heads at rebuild. In fact.. the 72 motors came with dished pistons in a last ditch attempt to keep the CR down and running cooler with all the smog crap on them. Keith ---------%$<
