FI Type 3s do well on CO ; around 0.5% to 1% is the usual level if
it's all working properly.  That only really leaves Nox, but that's
not very nice on the street, hence the catalytic converter.

believe
you, Jim, but you only mentioned unburned hydrocarbons.  My
impression is that it has always been easy to get these down in a
well maintained engine.  The trick, and where all the automotive
engineering money is going, is to get HC, NOx, and CO all down at
the
same time.  I don't think your cars, or mine, can do that.
