Right you are. I forgot about that marketing glitch.
The brazilian Fox was never sold in northern Europe btw.
Portugal did receive some of the brazilian VW's including the
type-IV-like contraception and the Bug. 
While rummaging through the NOS inventory of two portuguese VW dealers
these funny part numbers drove me crazy. The parts always looked just
right but were always just a little wrong and I could never check it in
my catalogs.
