The "shocks" are really motion dampers, the Brits even call them dampers. Their function is to dissipate energy >from the movement of the spring arms. They aren't meant to carry a load like a spring does, which is what you do when you adjust ride height with an air shock or add a coil spring booster. You're adding to the static load that the shock mounts carry, which isn't originally called for in the design. It's been a long time since I had Engineering Mechanics, but the shock mounts do carry a fair peak load when in use and so there's some additional margin of strength designed into them. Just be aware that by using air shocks you ARE cutting into that design margin. The load is partly transferred from the spring arm to the shock mount. It could bend or break off under some circumstances.
