The trannys are mechanically identical, same internals can be used in either. The difference is in the final gear ratios. I think Muir has a run-down in the back of the book as to final gearing per year. Don't have it handy right now, but I know I've got that chart somewhere. Since the later T3s don't have a cradle mount, that feature and those holes are deleted from the casting in the bellhousing area. If you have the proper nosecone, a T1 tranny should work just fine, even though it isn't cosmetically the same and the final gearing will be different.
