311 means your type
    on Notchbacks means VW1500/VW1500 S sedan LHD up to July 65
    on Fastbacks means VW1600 Sedan (VW 1600 TL) LHD from August 65

As far as the rest of the # I can not find any info in my books. Perhaps
somebody can give us the rest of the info.ú15s
