>From experience- you suffer the least damage with the tranny in gear and the brake on. Because: on a hill, in gear, you'll probably 'compression creep' down the hill, bumping into something, and pissing off the owner of that 'something' enuf so that he breaks off your antenna <grin> If you set the parking brake and it doesn't hold, you'll roll down the hill and do even more damage. My father's a pro at this. He even sent his tractor into the woods at speed... If you get hit, you'll get hit. It's unlikely that a hit 眴臗use any damage to your driveline, and if it did, you've probably been hit so hard it's a moot point. Personally, I liked the parking warning doo-dad in the Feb issue of Hot VW's- it looked like a little radio antenna at bumper level, about 12" in front of the car, that honked the horn when the SUV backed into it. TOo cute, indeed. Toby B. Contemplating the dark side >>>Would I be likely to suffer more damage --of any kind --if (a) I left the car in neutral with the parking brake on, or if (b) I left the transmission in gear but the parking brake off? The tranny is MT. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
