RE: [T3] Where have all the (USA) Notchbacks gone?

A while back, I looked into buying a '63 sunroof Notch in So. Oregon. I
called the guy, who is a regional NONA rep, and set up a time to look at
the sunroof Notch. Turns out he had not one, but three Notchbacks. 1
primo, completely original '63 for sale, the '63 sunroof, and one more
that he was keeping. Not to mention a shop full of T1's (early buses, I
had to throw that in). I didn't have the money to buy the sunroof, but
it was a very strait, and rust free car. So, they are out there.

I incidentally found my '63 in the "Antique" section in the local paper.
I had always wanted one, but couldn't afford the typical asking price. I
happened to pay $400 for mine, minus motor and sections of metal in the
floor. I waited for about 5 years.

Since we are all VW enthusiasts, specifically type 3, I'm sure we all go
through the ritual of scanning the local paper, the Nickel ads, the
internet, the VW show and every place else. I typically see one for sale
around here twice a month. You just have to look. And act fast.

Phillip
