Re: probs after engine wash: My guess is that a vacuum hose has come loose/broken with age at its end. Or, perhaps you cleaned off enough crud around the 4 braided/rubber intake coupler pieces and you now have a vacuum leak there. If you moved around the injectors and/or fuel rails and disturbed the injector seals, there might be a leak there. Might try an *unlit* propane bottle while the engine is running to see if it speeds up at any connection.
