The calipers are trouble spots on our cars; they tend to freeze up. Rebuilding or replacement are the only fix, but switching to silicone brake fluid is will prevent this in the future IF the system is in good shape when you put it in and IF it is installed by someone who knows how to do it. It is NOT straightforward, but I have a FAQ if you're interested. If your car has any water leaks then the center brake line may be getting close to rusting through. I have these custom made in stainless steel: $35 including shipping. I rebuild the calipers if you're interested. If your machanic wants to replace yours, don't let the old ones get away. The OE style are NLA and I prefer to rebuild and use only that style. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
