Heavy topic warning... Wavelength times frequency is the speed of the waves (for light that's 300 million metres a second). So if frequency is going up as you go right on the dial, wavelength is going down. My favourite local station is Classic Gold (all the oldies); frequency 1260 kHz or wavelength 238 metres (some old radios including my Blaupunkt Bremen have metres for MW and SW) . Long Wave, Medium Wave, Short Wave are all Amplitude Modulation (AM) signals, while Frequency Modulation is FM. They are just different ways of wrapping up the information you want to hear (or not), and need different radio circuits to deal with them, but the tuned circuit that grabs them from the air when you turn the dial is similar for both.
