The earlier models BN2 (68-72 bugs at least, not sure about 3s) used a regular
electric fuel pump, the carburetor type, not FI standard. They also had a
pressure regulator, very easy noticeable on top of the heater, which the revised
models with the fuel metering pump didn't have, as it was built in to the pump.
One can say that the new pump was pressure sensing, and gave more as the back
pressure was less.
