Got a message yesterday from Sacramento -- the dreaded California Department of Motor Vehicles. Something along the lines of "We're sorry Mr. Merritt, but once the car leaves the state, you can't put the original plates back on." (As my daughter might have put it, "Nanny-nanny boooooo-boooooo! You can't keep your plaaa-aaaaaates!") It had all looked soooo good when I last left my local DMV office. :( I get to now make an *extra* trip to the DMV. Joy.
