"heavy"??? no way. a bus irs tranny .might. weigh 10 lbs more then a typ3 irs. but i doubt it! And running the size tire he mentioned, i would suspect he needs a decently low final drive ratio to turn them. typ3 trannys mount just like bug trannies (non auto's at least..;), so i would suspect the linkage and mounting kits availalbe to put the bus tranny in bugs would work...perhaps with a slight bit of modification. might take some kludging to get the CVs and axles to work, but again, this should be similar to the bug. contact some of the larger offroad parts companies for more info. OTOH, if you are .not. offroading this (and need the stronger bus tranny to take the abuse) you might find it more feasable to get your current transmision rebuilt with a larger ring and pinion... later...david -- David Raistrick '69 Westy-Ichigo (retired:( ) keen@type2.com '82 Westy-Maxine (Mom's) '66 SO-44 Westy (Daily Driver) in Guyton Ga ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
