>From a machinists point of view, I would think that the way to do
this would be to cut off and discard the old spindle and make a new
one that would be welded in place in the new position. There would
be no reason to make spindles to any dimensions other than the
late size, as these will fit all of our cars by just changing to the late
bearing. The OD of the bearings did not change, just the ID, so the
early drums/disks will work with the late spindles/late bearings.
