today i finally got around to do the fresh air box cleaning procedure. i pulled the fresh air box out, pulled some leaves off the top and then turned it upside down to make a small beach in my driveway. aparently the previous owner didn't remove the fresh air box before sandblasting. i always wondered what that stuff flying in my eyes during the first few months owning the car was. anyways i cleaned out tM翻1drain tube and reached up inside the opening to find more leaves in there. i am going to get my bodywork and paint job done after i finish stripping the car. i am planning on having the fresh air vents sandblasted and vacuuming all the junk out. i will then replace the air box with a spare. other than cleaning all of the hoses and removing all the leaves, what am i leaving out? also i think there is some rust down in there and i see rust lines running down the very front of the interior. could this be another cause for my leakage problem? what would be the best way to get rid of all the rust and insure that i have no more water leaking into my car's interior? i'm pretty sure that the car has metal down there. i know some years used plastic. mine is a '73. how much would it cost to weld in new metal cut from a parts car? or would it be cheaper/easier/better to try something else. thanks in advance ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
